Red Tide is an independent study that explores the creation of graphic novels through the lens of graphic design, bringing together research, storytelling, and visual practice into a single cohesive body of work. Rooted in an investigation of gothic medieval iconography and it's influence on contemporary design, this project examines how historical visual language can shape modern narrative forms. combining illustration, writing, painting, and design, the work functions as an all-encompassing creative process culminating in a full, complete, and readable graphic novel.

Set in a medieval world governed by monarchs, mercenaries, and the the all-powerful wind, the story follows Oskar Rosso, a mercenary bound to the service of the Pigeon Company. we follow this character into battle as the Empire of Oldcountry fractures into war, and the mysterious Red Tide alters the balance of man and nature. Amid the chaos of the siege of Linthal Dam, Oskar is thrust into a decisive mission that challenges ides of survival and morality.
